I'm in this for the love of the .....technology?

Okay, as you've probably guessed from my blog title and list of books I read monthly - My name is Patti and I'm a Book Addict. I started this blog to talk about books and read about books and lust over books and....you get my point.

I started up on Goodreads last month but I still don't really have the hang of it - like linking my reviews and stuff. I still can't figure out how to put in what I'm currently reading!!! And I keep forgetting to put in a photo too, grrrr!

Yesterday I joined Twitter - if I haven't found you yet please look me up: BookAddictPatti- I tried looking people up but apparently Twitter was overwhelmed and told me to come back later. And apparently this morning was not later enough. I still need to figure out how to link stuff in my tweets and pick up the "twingo" (tweet lingo).

  1. I highly suggest considering getting one of the twitter applications like Tweetdeck. (There are lots of other ones, but tweetdeck is my fave so that's all I use. LOL) It makes using twitter so much easier for me.

  2. I'm sort of on GoodReads - I'm mostly on LibraryThing, but the m/m group on GoodReads is very active and interesting, so... Is your name there the same as your Twitter?

  4. I'm on goodreads too, and I think I have to get better at it also. I'm on too many sites it seems. There are so many out there I just don't know what to do. Librarything and Shelfari or something.

  6. I do like Goodreads, it keeps track on all of my books, even if I wrote them up in ye olden days.

Twitter is addicting but time consuming.

We are friends on goodreads..right? Can't remember anymore, oh poor mind lol

  7. I just joined Goodreads also, but haven't fully explored it.

I've heard of Tweetdeck on Twitter, Moira, and if it makes things easier, I'll check it out.

Enjoyed visiting, Patti. Loved your list of fictional boyfriends. :o)

    Happy 2010!

  11. I am so not loving technology right now Patti... It can be a very time consuming frustrating learning curve. I'll look you up on Goodreads and Twitter.

Tweetdeck is really good. It is simple to download and then you launch the application from your desktop.

    Best

  13. Hi sweetie,
We've found each other on both Twitter and Goodreads! You'll get the hang of it, believe me! Especially Goodreads will become really helpful with keeping track of what you read and it's fun to join some groups. I'm in the M/M group Chris mentioned as well.
Have a Happy New Year, honey! :D

  17. Welcome to twitter, I have not tried good reads, let me know how that pans out, if it is not too complex I may have to try it to keep track of what I have read, LOL.

Love the man in suspenders, I wonder if they will snap?

    Enjoy your vacay!

  19. I am so excited you are on twitter we can chit chat about books all day long in 140 characters or less. I use a desktop app Tweetdeck where it allows you to group your tweeps into columns and you can see your @replies...way easier than the main twitter page.

  20. I'm going to follow you on both right now! I love Goodreads-it's how I now keep track of all the great books people review. (I just created a shelf for each blog I go to a lot.) I love twitter!

  21. Just wanted to add: the twitter home page is very slow. If you have Firefox, I suggest getting echofon or downloading Seesmic or Tweetdeck. It's so much easier to follow peoples conversations. I wish I had downloaded Seesmic earlier!

  24. Well, we already found each other on Twitter, but I'm only on there once in a while.

As far as virtual bookshelves, I've been on Shelfari for a long time... and at the time I joined I didn't know there were other programs like it out there. So many readers I know are on goodreads that I wonder if I joined the wrong one. LOL
