The book I've chosen today is a bit controversial.  It seems that people either love it or hate the two previous books in the series:  Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker.  I am one of those firmly in the "love" category:  I read both books twice in a row - I just could not get enough of the sexy, fucked-up, possibly sadistic hero, Christian Grey!!

Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker are two of my favorite reads of 2011, and I cannot wait for Fifty Shades Freed - I've got to read an HEA for these two! Are they even going to get an HEA? Is it January yet?!?!

One of the books I'm most excited about reading is Richelle Mead's Shadow Heir.  Even though I love her other two series, I put off reading her Dark Swan series forever...I just didn't think I'd like a fairy story.  Then, Parajunkee convinced me to give it a try - OMG it's awesome!!!  I read the first two books back-to-back and pestered her until she gave me the third book :)  Since then, I've been waiting with baited breath for the fourth and final book in this series - I cannot wait to find out what's in store for Eugenie!!!

The first thing about Darker Still that caught my eye was the cover - it's gorgeous!  I haven't read Ms. Hieber's adult series, so I'm not sure what to expect with this one but it sounds suitably dark, romantic, and mysterious.  I'm in!!

After the total emotional punch of Hard Bitten, the most recent book in Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire series, I have been waiting since before I turned the last page.  Total cliffhanger ending.  Made a lot of people mad.  Me?  Not mad, more...curious. (My review here) And after reading the first chapter (see below) - yes I did - I'm not as mad at Jonah as I thought I would be; I've been blaming him as the author's reason for the turn the series has taken.

Saare, and the second book in her Rhiannon's Law series, The Renfield Syndrome, is coming out August 23!  I thoroughly enjoyed Book 1, Dead, Undead, or Somewhere In Between, and the cliffhanger ending made me want to throw my book across the room (what? it's true!); I did not see that ending coming.  I cannot wait to see what happens to Rhiannon and whether or not she finds Disco...

I love Contemporary Romance, and Louisa Edwards has consistently delivered great books.  Her heroes are smart and sexy, and her heroines are too.  It's a bit strange how much I enjoy this series, considering I hate to cook. Waiting on Wednesday: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

One of my most anticipated releases this year: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater, the third and final book in her Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. I actually met Ms. Stiefvater when she came to New Orleans last year, and I hadn't read her books yet but wanted to support authors coming to the city. I'm so glad I did. It turned out to be one of my favorite reads of 2010; I enthusiastially recommend this series.

Ms. Stiefvater's videos for her books have been very cool, and Forever is no exception:

I think anyone who reads this blog knows I'm a HUGE Molly Harper fangirl. I love her Nice Girls Don't series, and her recent contemporary, And One Last Thing... (my review here) made my favorites of 2010 list. I am super excited about her latest series, I assume she's calling it the Naked Werewolf series:

Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series is one series I cannot get enough of! River Marked is the 6th book in the series and hubs and I both have been waiting impatiently since we finished the last book, Silver Borne. I'm excited we'll meet other coyote shifters; I've wondered why we haven't before. I'm looking forward to seeing how her relationship with Adam grows and changes, and I missed Stephan in Silver Borne so I'm hoping he'll have a role here. For some reason I thought it was going to be on the shelves in January, but no, it's not out until March 1 *sob*!!! March is too far away!!!

Waiting on Wednesday: Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead is one of those releases I am anticipating and dreading. Anticipating because the series is so awesome and dreading because it's the last book in this fabulous series. This is my favorite YA series.

The release date is December 7 but I haven't been able to find a blurb, and she said she probably won't be able to release the first chapter (which she normally releases a month ahead of the book) until Thanksgiving week.


She did put two videos with teasers up on her blog last week:

(about Christian apparently)

She has planned a spinoff series with different characters as the main focus, here's what she has to say:

Last Sacrifice will be the last book about Rose, but it'll be followed by a spin-off series still set in the Vampire Academy world. Side characters we know from the current series will now be our main characters, and there'll be a whole new storyline (not the last one told from a different perspective). So far, there is no exact release date, but you can expect it near late summer/early fall of 2011.

I have been waiting for the release of Shadowfever, the conclusion of her phenomenal Fever series, since I finished reading the last page of Dreamfever - talk about a cliffhanger ending! Shadowfever was originally due to be released in December, then got pushed back to January. Was I disappointed? Sure. But Ms. Moning has promised it's worth the wait! I wouldn't normally take a day off for a booksigning, but this is an exception to that rule - Ms. Moning knows how to throw a party and this is one of my all-time favorite series - I can't take both days off so I'm going to have to figure out which day I should be there...Anyone else thinking of coming in?
