I love my Kindle 2. Love, love, love it. But when the Kindle 3 came out - oooohhhh, I want! Well, this weekend, I got one!! I strolled into my local Best Buy and walked out with a new Kindle 3!
I've posted a few pics so you can see the difference in size - meet "Patti's Book Crack":

The smaller size fits very nicely in my purse; even with the cover it's still much more compact and lighter. I'm also finding it's much faster than my K2. A few times while I was organizing my collections it went forward too fast and I had to start over! I like that the "prev page" button is on both sides now - I can't tell you how many times I hit the "home" button instead of "prev page" on the K2 - that was sooo frustrating!! The little "enter" button on the K3 is taking a bit of getting used to - it's just an indented little square surrounded by the navigation (up/down/left/right) - If I don't pay attention I hit the enter button instead of the navigation.
So now, when the newest video game system or wonder phone comes out, I won't laugh at my siblings who are all drooling over it, I'll look at my K3 and think "I understand".
WANT! I'm hoping Santa Hubs gets the memo ;)
ReplyDeleteI got my Kindle 3 just two weeks ago. Its my first Kindle and I love it! I find it so much easier to hold than a book. I thought at first i'd miss holding a real book, the feel and smell etc, but I really havent!
ReplyDeleteAre there any major techie differences between the two versions or is it just the size and layout that differ? I like the cover on your Kindle 2 :)
I do wish though that the UK Kindle store had as many titles available as the US one. I see links to Kindle versions of books I'd love to read only to find its not available in the UK, just US.
A part of me wants the new Kindle but I'm really happy with my Kindle 2. I feel like I'm cheating on it when ever I oogle the Kindle 3. Unless I find it really cheap (yes I know it's already at a great price) I'll be keeping my Kindle 2. That may change if a K4 comes out.

I have a K2, but so far I haven't given into any K3 desires. Is it significantly lighter? I have been feeling like my K2 is a bit heavy. I have an iphone though and I do a lot of reading on there so I feel like if I have all three that would be gadget overkill.
ReplyDelete*cries a bit*
ReplyDeleteI am so sad that you can just walk into a store and buy a kindle :(
How did you get a gift for MY Birthday? Thats what I want to know!
ReplyDeleteSo how many points did I just build up for saying yes?
Fun new toy! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I understand too.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that since my ereader I'm even more geeky about gadgets than I was already. :)
I loves my K3. I love the new size and speed!
ReplyDeleteMandi: Hope Santa Hubs is good to you - you'll love it!
ReplyDeleteSlowest Bookworm: Yes -it is so much lighter! The only techie difference I've noticed is the speed - it's much faster.
Paranormal Haven: I wasn't going to do it but I couldn't resist :)
Autumn: I think it's noticeably lighter but it could be because I'm still in the adoration stage :)
Blodeuedd: Are they not available via mail over there yet?
Hubs: You love me - that's how! You just built up a LOT of points *winks*
Chris: Yes, it is :)
Janna: I'm still not into other gadgets - my ipod and phone are old skool but I do love my Kindle!
FV: It's not my imagination then,it's much lighter and faster?
I didnt have a K2, but I am absolutely in love with my K3 aka Z =D
